Luohanyan is a typical mountain of Danxia Landform, which means a variety of landforms with steep cliffs constituted of continental red sand shales. Hundreds of meters thick rock stratums are corroded by water and wind, forming peaks and strange rocks in the shape of fortress. Let’s take a look at this rock face, which is made of red sand shales synthesized by thick iron and calcium. This rock corridor is named “Shaiyi Rock”, which is not only a shelter that protects people from rain and wind, and it feels incredibly cool when you walk through it in a hot summer day. Because this is the place where monks used to hung out their clothes to dry, hence the name “Shaiyi Rock”, literally translated as “the rock to dry clothes”.
